Importantly, homeowners do not need to be current consumers of the energy supplier, as the scheme covers all properties in the UK.

This initiative ensures that the necessary government funding is available to support the installation of energy-efficient condensing boilers, which can significantly reduce carbon emissions and save approximately £300 per year on fuel bills. The Free Boiler Replacement Scheme is designed to provide cost-free improvements for existing gas boiler heating systems that operate below the recommended energy-efficiency levels.

To qualify for a free boiler upgrade, your current boiler must meet the following criteria:

• It must be a gas boiler.
• It should be more than 12 years old.
• Its energy efficiency rating should fall between C and G (less than 86% efficient).

Typically, the cost of replacing a gas boiler is around £2,700. However, the ECO grants replacement scheme can help you save up to £400 annually.

This service has been made possible through Government Funding in Britain, specifically the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme.
